The Quarantine’s Effect on Writing

Blog, baby, blog! I love writing (in general, not just music and lyrics) so I thought this would be a good place to share thoughts for those who are seeking MY thoughts, specifically… Sharing on social media has not been my favorite lately due to the volatile nature of being a person during a pandemic, especially when the society you live in has such polarized views. This is just a chance for me to muse, update and hopefully inspire without contributing to a lot of noise and void shouting.

The absence of noise is incredibly inspiring right now and I find myself as the vessel for nearby floating melodies every single day… Without performances to prepare for and music to learn, I am more available for the muse than I have been since I was in high school and had no responsibilities. I find myself writing about this experience we share on a daily basis and there are endless analogies and metaphors to describe the circumstance we’re in. I have a batch of new songs (not including ones I haven’t released yet) that have all be written during the stay-at-home order and I plan on sharing them as soon as resources / funds allow.

I cannot express enough how much this phase feels like a resurrection of all-things-important and I am showing up for myself as an artist in way that the music is really benefiting from. It’s grown up but lighter… Truly a reflection of me these days.
